Abstract Leaf


What a difference a day makes!  Woke up this morning chomping at the bit to get to my drawing and paint tools.  I had a couple of ideas I want to try out.  I wanted to take a simple shape like a leaf, make it more abstract and then color it brightly and not necessarily in realistic colors.  Love how it came out. At first I was going to make abstract shapes in the leaves...like zentangles, maybe...but then I just liked the idea of drawing veins on one side, but not the other. 

The other idea I had was from an art teacher. I followed a pin to this blog and saw a beautiful way to create simple abstract watercolor landscapes.  Here is an example of her work:


I quickly put together a little index card landscape using the same technique.  I didn't do all the textures and my landscape is very simplified but I created something with the same feeling.  I'm looking forward to spending more time to really create something good with this technique:



The second one is a direct copy of one of the originators samples.
